I'm Not Worthy!!!

10 min Frog from will terry on Vimeo.

You’re probably thinking that I’m going to apologies for my content drought since July…I think we’re way beyond that don’t you? I mean it’s obvious that I’m not worthy right? But every good slacker has a “good” excuse right? So here’s mine:

The sun was in my eyes…my alarm clock didn’t go off…my dog chewed my power cord…how bout this one: I suck.

The truth is I’ve had 2 books cancel and one postponed for a year due to the economy – very frustrating. I’ve been working on a bunch of book covers for Element but they prefer I don’t share that work until after they’ve been published. So I’ve been in an art funk since August.

I’ve been filling the rest of my time with a few new money making ventures. Of all things I’ve started stock trading with a great new system I recently found. I never thought I’d become a trader (not traitor haha) but this system was designed for morons so I easily qualified. Also, I’m working with a non-profit company that not only helps people get out of debt – they also help you increase your monthly income. I won’t cross-pollinate this blog by giving the details here but if anyone is interested call me at 801-368-7568.

So what’s up with this video? I finally felt the art deprivation bug chewing on the back of my neck so I decided to do something purely for fun. This photoshop painting was done in just over 10 min. I paint characters like this for my school visits and project them on a movie screen for assemblies. I like to give kids a taste of what my paintings are like and they seem to like it. I love how quiet a few hundred 2nd and 3rd graders become when I start painting my little frog, gator or boar with my Wacom tablet.

Shameless plug alert: I could come to a school near you to paint this lil fella if you want – just put me in touch with your librarian or media specialist.

  1. I am amazed that you can do all that with a Wacom tablet. I find mine only slightly easier than a mouse.

  2. It's just time in the seat...I still can't draw with it but if I forced myself to draw I'd get it in time. :)

  5. I liked watching your demo. What do you use to record? I am so sorry about your books being cancelled. I know you will get some more jobs soon. Maybe this is just a little famine before the feast of art blessings! Happy Christmas!

  6. Will, that was the coolest video ever. Cutting fun media clips into your movie - so brilliant! Plus, it really reflects the artistic process - I'm always watching a movie while I render. :)

I'm sorry to hear about the book cancellations.

  7. Awesome, Will! Your video served as breakfast entertainment for my mom, me, and my 3 buckaroos (9,7,3). Their only complaint is that they'd like to see Spongebob again. :)

  8. Not worthy? That frog is so much fun. If you can do that in 10 mins I wonder what you could do in a couple of hours with some custom brushes.

    Glad to have you back.

  12. Hey Guys,

Shawna, I just picked up WM Capture which is relatively inexpensive, has few bells and whistles but gets the job done - then I took the captured video into Ulead Video Studio 12. Thanks for all of your kind words - I'm not back because I never went anywhere - I've just been really busy trying to get my other money making ventures off the ground. You can take the art out of the illustrator but you can't take the illustrator out of....hmmmm...not sure where that is going. I'll try to keep stuff coming now that I have a bit more time.
