I think you should try to get paid for doing art tests - however I've landed a few big projects when the client refused to pay for the test. Life's a gamble - sometimes you have to pay to play :)
I'm a big fan of capitalism, and I don't think the American Dream is dead. It's why I moved to the US in the first place. Thanks for sharing!
