Here's a quick one I just finished - I'm trying to gear up on my Photoshop skills for an upcoming video tutorial that I'm working on.
Other things I'm currently working on:
Video Tutorial for Folio Academy - Making Art For eBooks & Story Apps - almost finished! check back after Thanksgiving for the give away! I'll be making the announcement so if you want to get my public updates you can follow this blog.
Working on a new Picture Book for next Halloween! - I wish I could show character sketches.
Working on a few freelance projects - also can't show them :(
Working on my next story app - I'll be using Kwiksher - a photoshop plug-in and it looks really sweet!
and....the semester is coming to a close! Time to get some stuff done!
Will, this is such a cool character.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul!
DeleteLove the character and the texture. Looking forward to seeing Making Art For eBooks & Story Apps :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Claire - It should be out next week!
DeleteCool character Will. the Kwiksher program looks pretty cool. The documentation says that if you don't own a Mac you can't make apps for the Ipad with a PC. So that sounds like a drawback. But you can still make stuff for Amazon and Nook. Good luck let us know how it turns out;)
ReplyDeleteI think you might have read it wrong or perhaps they have old information on their site. I've spoken with the developer who told me that it will indeed run on a PC and that you can develop for iPad and android that way. It's going to be a lot of fun!
DeleteJust thought I'd post where I read it at. It's in the installation instructions on this page. http://www.kwiksher.com/learn-kwik2/installing-kwik/
DeleteI might be reading it wrong though or maybe it has changed since they posted this.
DeleteYou read it right - my bad - I talked to the developer and I guess I had misunderstood the deal. So he explained that since I'm on a PC I can use it to develop for android but not iOS...but - we I can pay a fee to have him take my code and output for iOS. SO all is not lost just different - actually it might be nice to have it available for both platforms so I can have the experience. Thanks for letting me know robot! :)
DeleteAhhh, he is awesome Will!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! :)
DeleteThis is wicked :) he ins such a creepy critter hehe
ReplyDeleteI think I'm influenced by some of my students...in the past I've really only worked on children's book illustrations but I see them in their sketchbooks and assignments creating such cool characters that I'm finding myself wanting to explore beyond the boundaries of "cute" ...in the end it's just shape, value, and color :)
DeleteLOVE this!! Such wonderful dimension & personality!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mit - It started out as a doodle in a meeting...and then it got to the point where I just had to add color :)
DeleteAw yeah! A busy Will is a.... busy Will. Sorry, I don't have anything of worth to say except that you are my Yoda, or Obi-Wan, or Gandalf, or somebody like that...
ReplyDeleteThanks Cam! My Obi-Wan told me I would be a great artist one day - didn't believe him in the slightest - now I'm thinking I might get there some day...Cam - if you stick with it you will be a great artist some day! :)
DeleteLove it!Always amezed by your technique, you menage to bring your characters to life:)
ReplyDeleteNice critter! Real nice!
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks - means a lot to me :)
DeleteLove this guy! You mentioned he started as a doodle, but is the b/w sketch above pencil or digital?
ReplyDeleteOh - that sketch was done on my iPad - I haven't sketched on paper in about 2 years now. I don't use a stylus - just my finger - It's awesome because I never forget to bring my finger along :)
Deletevery cool technique!
